We just got back from Yosemite where we contributed to interviews and a round-table discussion for the upcoming documentary film about the second ascent of Wings of Steel. Sadly, the producer just removed the trailer that had been posted. They are about to release a new trailer to the movie, and I’ll post a link as soon as it becomes available.
Mark Smith and I did the first ascent of Wings of Steel in 1982. Dozens of teams tried to do the second ascent in the following 29 years, and all failed. Finally, last summer, a second ascent was finally completed. A feature-length motion picture is in the works about the route and the second ascent, as well as profiling the second ascent team.
