July 4: It’s Over!

Two trips each, with Rocky, Dana, and I, got all the stuff out to the cars. We met a great guy named Den White in the parking lot prior to our first trip in, and he offered to bring out a load too. He was true to his word and got at least 50 pounds out, which actually made the difference for us on our last trip out. I don’t think any of us could have carried more on our last trip out, so Den basically saved us a third round-trip, which in effect saved us one more day of work! Thanks Den!!!

It’s sort of amazing that exactly 1 year ago today, Dana, Rocky, and I were out at the Fisher Towers scoping out the route. And here it is, one year later to the day that I’m done with it. And perfect that it’s “Independence Day,” as I have a real sense of freedom compared to how mentally trapped I had been feeling more and more toward the end. The heat was simply daunting, and the unrelenting physical effort just to make any progress was just wearing me down. I started sincerely wondering if I or the tower would end first. So, to be free of the whole project is simply wonderful!

Now we drive home. I’ll have tons of stuff to catch up on, as well as tons of stuff to sort out and put away. Then I can organize pictures, etc. I’ll be posting lots of new pics over the next few days, and the DVD will be under development for those of you that supported this project monetarily. Thank YOU again for your support!
