May 20: Second Pitch is Up

Here are some pics showing the wall and base camp.

Here are some pics showing the first pitch with fixed line.

Today I finished the second pitch, of course running the first and second pitches together as one. It’s about 170 feet, and the rope actually runs well.

I stopped just short of where the goofballs put the second anchor. Their topo calls it another bad belay, and I found a great spot with a bunch of very solid placements. Since their next pitch is short anyway, I can easily add this extra bit to the start of it, and this spot makes WAY more sense to anchor from than another bad belay!

These goofy guys were weak sauce in the pitches (while rating them inordinately hard!), yet they tried to be heroes at the anchors!!! Very lame. So, I’ll redo the route to make sense, with anchors that make sense, since I’M not trying to design a route FOR a rating, as they were.

Oh, btw, the reason the pics are “behind” my progress is that I have to edit pics at night, and I don’t get out to post them until the next evening after climbing. So, I’ll have pictures of the clean of the first long pitch, etc., including detailed shots of the hook anchor, tomorrow evening.

Progress continues. What can I say?
